Work hands-on with Africa’s iconic wildlife alongside our expert veterinarians. Learn about wildlife management, conservation medicine, immobilisation, and relocation of species such as rhino, giraffe, buffalo, and antelope.

14-Day Mixed Veterinary Outreach Program

Make a difference through community and animal care in rural Africa. This program focuses on meaningful outreach and hands-on veterinary work in local South African communities β€” where you’ll assist licensed veterinarians with domestic animals, farm animals, and occasional wildlife cases. Participants spend much of their time helping at rural clinics and mobile outreach projects, treating animals in need, educating communities on animal health, and experiencing the realities of veterinary care in Africa.

Which airport should I arrive at?

You should arrive at Eastgate Airport (HDS) in Hoedspruit, South Africa. We’ll meet you on arrival and transport you directly to the program site. Your adventure begins on Day 1 and ends with departure on the final day.

What time should I arrive at the airport?

All arrivals and departures should be booked on the last available flight to and from Eastgate Airport (HDS) in Hoedspruit. The last flights usually arrive in Hoedspruit around Β±14:30pm and depart back to Johannesburg or Cape Town around Β±14:30pm as well.

We recommend checking your preferred travel date and booking the latest available option on your airline’s schedule.

Are vaccinations required?

There are no mandatory vaccinations to enter South Africa, unless traveling from a yellow fever zone. However, we recommend consulting your local healthcare provider for personalized advice.
